Calm Birth is a meditation practice for pregnancy and childbirth that is derived from centuries-old traditions. There are three meditations: Womb Breathing, the Practice of Opening, and Giving and Receiving. Studies show that meditation during pregnancy and childbirth can help relieve pain, reduce stress, connect with baby, and empower pregnant people to birth on their own terms and with their own strength. Calm Birth is beneficial for any kind of birth and can supplement whichever type of care you choose. We need this new kind of health care, to heal the collective experience of birth in our culture and to give our babies their best start.
In a Calm Birth course, we will learn more about the benefits of the three meditations and when to use them, as well as practice them together. We will also review the five Calm Parents meditations which can aid in healing, breastfeeding, and maintaining energy for yourself, your baby, and your partner. Partners are encouraged to attend the course and they are free because their support is so valuable!
