Gregory Djanikian Reading August 17

Poet Greg Djanikian will read from his recently published collection Nostalgia for the Future at the Craftsbury Public Library on Sunday, August 17 at 4pm.  Mr. Djanikian is a graduate of the Syracuse University writing program and, for many years, was the Director of Creative Writing at the University of Pennsylvania.  He is the author of eight poetry collections and a recipient of a National Endowment of the Arts Fellowship.  He and his family have been spending their summers in Irasburg for more than 30 years.  He writes, “My kids spent most of their childhood roaming the pastures and hayfields and swimming in the Black River and Ware Creek. And now my grandchildren are doing what my children did, connecting one generation to another. I've set several of my poems in the Northeast Kingdom, and the natural beauty and wildlife have been both an inspiration to me and a balm.”  Refreshments will be served at a reception following the reading, and books will be available for purchase at the event.
