Susan O’Connell traveled to Ireland in April on a family heritage trip.
She brought her family to castles, estate houses, and ringforts, tromped on old Mass Paths and hiked into the mountains, attempting to learn more about the O’Connell family in Ireland’s County Kerry.
On Wednesday, August 2 at 7PM, Susan will share photos and stories from her trip and from her family history. From the Great Daniel O’Connell, the Liberator of Ireland, to the murkier history of the less well known Daniel O’Connell, Fenian Agitator, she will share stories of the O’Connells of Ballycarberry Castle to midnight escapes from British rule.
Her photos will bring to light the rugged beauty of the remote “Kingdom of Kerry” on the western edge of Europe, and highlight some beautiful gardens that take advantage of the amazingly temperate climate.
