The Hosmer Community Rowing Club (CommRow) will start getting their blades wet May 16 at 4:30. Like recent years, CommRowers will congregate at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center's Boathouse on Big Hosmer Pond and resume the same Monday thru Wednesday schedule as last year. Please bear in mind these sessions will run concurrent with Craftsbury Sculling Camp's afternoon free row.

As in previous years, we strongly encourage people of all levels to join CommRow - though not necessarily all sessions. Newcomers of any level are invited to join us on Tuesday, May 31, when we can be prepared to provide additional instruction. Moving forward from that start date, people with less than a year of experience should attend the Wednesday session. Meanwhile, intermediate and advanced scullers may attend any or all of the three weekly sessions. Beginners will be able to scull on Tuesdays or Wednesdays by special arrangement only.

2017 Schedule

Monday - 4:30-5:30pm (Experienced Rowers Only)
Tuesday - 4:30-5:30pm (Experienced Rowers Only)
Wednesday - 4:30-6:00pm

We ask that all CommRow participants complete a waiver (parents will have to do this for those under 18), and be certain their Outdoor Center membership is current. As a reminder, membership for Craftsbury and Albany residents is complimentary, but we ask that you complete the paperwork. Club sessions are covered by a program fee of $150/person, or if you're a beginner attending Wednesdays only, a program fee of $50/person. Center members can come try their first three sessions FREE. If you elect to continue, please make payment of your fee prior to the next session.

Scullers will learn primarily in the single. A participant's first session in the program will feature a flip and recovery experience, so bring a bathing suit on Day One! After instruction, the flip experience gives you the chance to demonstrate you can get back into a boat or swim it to shore in the event of capsize.

Before your first session, we ask that you first stop at the office to complete a waiver if you haven't downloaded and completed one this year. Please contact the Center at 802-586-7767 or sculling@craftsbury.com for more information.
