The Selectboard met at the Craftsbury Town Hall on Tuesday, August 1^st at 7:30 PM. Selectboard present were Bruce Urie and Jim Jones. Michelle Warren (clerk) was also present.

The July 2006 minutes were approved.

Ms. Warren will send the unlicensed dog list to Paul Martin.

The Selectboard discussed the culvert Allison Blaney accidentally damaged with her car. She notified her insurance company of the culvert damage, estimating $500-$1000 to fix it. Mr. Urie will check with Steve Marckres for an estimate of the cost to repair the culvert.

Mr. Urie signed and faxed a Vermont form stating that no salvage yards are located in Craftsbury.

Mr. Urie spoke with Steve Marckres and said the new town truck will be arriving any day. The roadside work is almost done, except some trimming. However, there had been some mechanical complications.

Effie Brown was unavailable for the clerk's report.

Mr. Urie said that he has been working with the broadband committee regarding acquiring broadband in Craftsbury. Over 150 Craftsbury residents are interested in broadband. Mr. Urie is optimistic that Island Pond Wireless can set up 80% of the Craftsbury broadband residents by this fall. The startup costs for Island Pond Wireless to set up broadband in Craftsbury is approximately $125,000. Mr. Urie mentioned barns were good antennae locations. When they were reviewing Colburn Hill, it was thought that a section would possibly be a good location for a cell phone tower. Estimated broadband cost would be $39.95/month with a $179 installation fee. If a grant is available, it could bring the installation cost down to as low as $100.

Ms. Warren discussed with the Selectboard the new town website www.townofcraftsbury.com. They reviewed the different web pages and the Selectboard will let her know of additions/corrections. She mentioned that she is forming a committee specifically for the website so the input will be from a variety of people.
