February 26, 2008
Agenda:
The Selectboard met at the Craftsbury Town Hall on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 7:30 PM. Selectboard present was Bruce Urie, Susan Houston and Jim Jones. Yvette Brown (Town Clerk) and Michelle Warren (Clerk of Selectboard) were also present.
The Selectboard approved the Jan. 22, 2008 Selectboard Minutes with one correction with the warning meeting date to be January 24, 2008 not
February 24, 2008.
The Selectboard had earlier signed weight permits for Grimes Excavating, Agri Mark Cabot, Pouliot & Corriveau Inc., Bournes’ and Griswold.
The Selectboard earlier had signed receipt of the Augusta Dustan Estate for the following: $10,000 Fire Department gift, $10,000 Town Hall curtain gift and $35,000 School parking lot. The Selectboard discussed turning the parking lot portion of the estate over to the Craftsbury School Board. Jim made a motion that the Dustan Estate portion of the $35,000 School parking lot be handed over to the Craftsbury School Board as long as they follow the stipulations of the will, Susan seconded, all the Selectboard agreed.
Yvette will check with Craftsbury School District to see how they want to invest it, short or long term. Bruce will look into finding the name of the company that preserves historical curtains. Yvette mentioned that it would be nice if the curtains were hung on the back wall of the Town Hall. The chairs and shelving would need to be reorganized though since nothing can lean against the curtains.
The tentative Great Auk Wireless Open House date is March 21, 2008 for Albany and Craftsbury. Bruce mentioned GAW is considering installing another tower in East Craftsbury since Internet coverage is limited there. Areas of the East Craftsbury, the Branch Road and Town Line Road still do not have Internet coverage.
An audit of the Fire Department for 2003, 2004 & 2005 has been completed with only a couple small issues. The Fire Department needs to update their equipment list, which they are working on Bruce said, and a bill was accidentally paid for before the equipment arrived.
Jim made motion to grant approval for John & Cindy Morgan to get power across from Lake Road, Bruce seconded. All the Selectboard agreed to the Morgans request, as long as road is brought back to original state afterwards. Bruce will send a letter to Hardwick Electric to let them know about the approval.
Mike Clark sent a letter to Selectboard requesting use of the Common for Soccer Camp June 23-27 and August 4-8, 9 AM-3 PM daily. Jim made a motion to approve the Soccer Camp request, all Selectboard agreed. Michelle will send a letter to Mike letting him know the request was granted.
Bruce bought a safe for Town Hall from town of Maidstone for only $500. It’s been delivered to Craftsbury, just needs to be brought in, when the Town Crew gets a chance.
Bruce had earlier signed the Lake Eligo Milfoil Grant portion for Craftsbury.
Will Strong has paid the $1000 for the tarp. The Selectboard will work on giving a bill of sale.
The Selectboard reviewed other town committee reports and also the new Town Report.
Bruce said Steve would be unable to attend the Selectboard meeting tonight due to the snowstorm.
Clerk’s Report:
