The Selectboard met at the Craftsbury Town Hall on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at

7:30 PM. Selectboard present was Bruce Urie, Susan Houston and Jim Jones. Steve Marckres (Road Foreman), Yvette Brown (Town Clerk) and Michelle Warren (Clerk of Selectboard) were also present.

Bruce hasn’t had a chance to type up the last meeting minutes yet. He will work on that by the next Selectboard meeting. Thus, the previous minutes have not been approved yet.

Appropriations: The Selectboard reviewed the Appropriations sent in to date. The deadline for sending in appropriations is January 24, 2008. The Selectboard decided to have three separate articles for appropriations—local, new and all others.

The Selectboard decided to meeting January 24, 2008 at noon to sign the warning, after the final appropriations were received.

Bruce said that Mr. Reindeau called him offering to pay for half of the $4000 survey costs quoted by Dusbois & King. The Selectboard decided to decline the offer.

Great Auk had asked the Selectboard to choose possible dates for a Great Auk Wireless Open House. The Selectboard chose Feb. 9^th or Feb. 16^th.

Road Forman Report: Steve mentioned his truck is still have problems and possibly needing to replace one of the plows. Bruce mentioned the Outdoor Sports Center Ski Marathon is February 2^nd and asked the town to move the snow if possible for parking.

Clerks Report: Yvette said that the new laptop has arrived from the election grant. Yvette also said the Town Report is being worked on. Yvette noted that there are a number of delinquent taxes that she will start the proceeding on in February. The Selectboard then discussed getting proceeds started for the four unidentified parcels.

Budget Work:

The Selectboard worked in depth on the 2008 budget. Although the town was over approximately $7738 over the 2007 budget, the town hasn’t been yet reimbursed from one of the grants. The 2008 budget is up approximately 5.5% from the previous year, with the largest increase fuel costs. The Selectboard also discussed upcoming work for the bridge on the Black River Road and also fixing the culvert on South Craftsbury Road. The Selectboard considered putting up a weight limit on Atwood Bridge, Bruce will check with the State for suggestions. The Selectboard approved the 2008 budget.

• Weight Permits:
  The Selectboard approved/signed weight permits for Roger Gosselin Inc. Concrete and Excavation and also Gosselin Water Wells Inc.
  

The Selectboard Meeting adjourned at 10 PM. The next regular meeting is

February 20, 2008 at 7:30 PM at the Town Hall. It will be the only meeting in February.
